It may seem strange to talk about daily fantasy football, but those are some of the games offered here on DraftStreet. You may be able to play fantasy football games at our site. The way it works, now that football is no longer a Sunday thing, is that you could sign up for a daily fantasy football league which only includes games that happen on one day. Keep in mind that football is no longer just a Sunday thing – there can be games on Saturday, Thursday, and Monday, as well as Sunday.
So the way it works with daily fantasy football is that you would draft a team for that particular day. Unlike some fantasy football leagues, where you pick a team for the entire season, with this sort of league, you would literally only have a team for that one day, and pick your players based on who is playing that day. So that means if it is on a Sunday only, and Tim Tebow is playing on Monday, you cannot play him. Or if you are in a Monday fantasy league, and Tom Brady is not playing that night, you cannot pick him.
Basically, at DraftStreet, there are two types of draft league formats as far as picking players for a daily fantasy football league – a snake draft, and a salary cap draft. Don’t worry, a snake draft has nothing to do with pythons or boa constrictors. There is no need to be afraid of this sort of snake draft – the name symbolizes the way the draft moves up and down. Basically, in an eight-team league, it works this way. If you have the first draft pick, you would pick eighth in the second round, first in the third round, eighth in the fourth round, first in the sixth round, and eighth in the sixth round. If you have the eighth draft pick, you would pick eighth in the first round, first in the second round, eighth in the third round, first in the fourth round, eighth in the fifth round, and first in the sixth round. To summarize: whatever draft pick you have reverses for the next round.
With a salary cap draft in daily fantasy football, you have a set budget, and you cannot go over that budget. What that means is that you don’t want to spend, say, 75% of your budget on a running back, and then not have enough money to pay for a quarterback, wide receiver, and the rest of your team. You want to spend your salary cap budget wisely, something you can learn over time by playing fantasy football.
One of the cool things about daily fantasy football is that you get to set up a whole new team every time you play, whether it be with a free league at DraftStreet, or a pay league where you can win cash and prizes. No more making mistakes in your August draft, and being stuck with your team until December. Instead, every day is a new day here. Good luck with your team!
